The OpenLine4 card has reached its end of life and can only be ordered by existing customers (or Windows users) subject to MOQ requirements. For customers wishing to develop their telephony solutions under Linux, we recommend the OpenPCI series as a far superior alternative.

The content below is for reference purposes only. Limited support is available for registered customers.

The OpenLine4 offers four loop-start (FXO) ports in a half length PCI card form factor, suitable for low density fixed line computer telephony applications running on Linux and Windows. The card connects to plain old telephone services (POTS) lines. Developers can leverage off our open source development tools, namely our API and CT server middleware to quickly build feature rich telephony solutions for the price of a PC and an OpenLine4 card.

Typical telephony solutions targeted include:

  • Interactive Voice Response (IVR) answering services.
  • Computer Telephony Integration (CTI).
  • Voicemail systems for legacy phone systems.
  • Auto Attendant or Announcement servers for legacy phone systems.
  • Telecom network testing equipment.
  • Dialers.

FEATURES
BENEFITS

Half length PCI (5V) form factor.
Can be only installed now in a limited range of motherboards and chassis sizes.
Supports leading operating systems (Linux and Windows).
Windows based developers can leverage off our open source development tools to build their next telephony application much the same way as Linux based developers.
On board DSP performs signal processing including echo cancellation.
Host CPU load is nominal and higher port densities solutions can be supported by simply installing multiple cards within the PC chassis. Channel capacity is limited only by the number of PCI slots available in the chassis.
Open Source Software Development Tools and Applications.
Speeds up development, provides total design and maintenance control and eliminates vendor lock-in, all at zero cost!

TYPICAL CONFIGURATIONS

All you need to build your next telephony solution is a PC/server running Linux, an OpenLine4 card and some open source software!

A typical solution may include:

  • An IVR answering and/or voicemail service supporting legacy PBX phone systems. Take a PC/server with an OpenLine4 card running Linux and connect the card's ports to the telco lines (PSTN) and the PBX's trunk side line interfaces for the IVR answering service. For voicemail services connect the card's ports to spare extensions on the PBX (station side). Install the OpenLine4 hardware driver, VPB library and commence developing your own custom IVR and/or voicemail solution. Note: CT server can be installed to make it easier on Perl developers. Please note: The OpenLine4 card can't connect to PBX extensions found in keyed telephone systems (KTS).
